Video Editing Laptops
Just like the rest of the world, video editing is now mobile. You often can’t be in an editing suite to do the work you need to do. Sometimes you’re on location; sometimes you’re working late at home; sometimes you’re on the train; none of which is conducive or blessed with the software, programs, benefits, etc which come with a studio. So you have options. While it would be ideal for all of us to be able to just chill out and do what we need to do, that doesn’t always present itself either: The kids are sick, the wife is nagging at you to mow the lawn, take out the trash, or get your nose out of your computer. What do you do? Well your options range from pro systems that are tens of thousands of dollars all the way down to hooking up two camcorders together and kneeling to the Gods of the HandiCam. While neither of those options may be of use to you, there is an ever growing middle-ground that offers options for the harried video editor. Let’s face it; we’d all love to be George Lucas. He’s got his own little town; he was able to sit in his studio for 20 years or so to let the technology catch up to his vision. But even Star Wars had to come from something; that is, for all the amazing things that he’s able to do now, he had to start somewhere.
Enter video editing laptops. Video editing laptops are a growing consensus among film students, geeks, and aspiring Lucas-Spielberg’s everywhere. Video editing laptops are functional, (comparatively) affordable, and for the most part ready to use out of the box. You may need some additional programs to get yourself to the place you’d like to be, but photo editing laptops and video editing laptops are getting easier and easier to use by the day. The best laptops for video editing are available in specialty shops. That’s nothing against the big box retailers but if you’re looking for the best of the best you should go to any boutique electronics place or if there’s one in your area, a specialty shop. Do some research online before you go in; the clerk at the shop may be able to dispel some online myths but be careful! They may also fill your head with further mythology; it’s always a good idea to get a second opinion. Also if you come equipped with quoted online rates they may be able, in store, to match or beat your price.
