The Toshiba Satellite is one of Toshiba’s lower priced laptop computer options. It is a great starter laptop, and perfect for those who have their computer more for communication and recreational purposes rather than work or business. If storage is important to you, the Toshiba Satellite is probably not a great option for a notebook computer; it does not hold a lot by way of audio and video files, or picture files, as well as normal Word document or PDF files. For more than one or two users, the Toshiba Satellite simply does not have the storage capacity to function properly, let alone have the software needed to operate certain applications that are needed to use many of the auxiliary features the Toshiba Satellite is equipped with.
Although the Toshiba Satellite is equipped with a smooth, quick CD burner, it does not have a DVD burner; it does however have DVD playing software already installed on the computer as one of the pre-loaded applications.
As far as durability goes, the Toshiba Satellite seems a bit flimsy in every way. From the outside casing to the inside screen, the Toshiba Satellite collapses under rough touch. If you lug your computer back and forth a lot, or have a tendency to set it on the floor (as so many of us do) the Toshiba Satellite may not be one of your best options. Another downside to the Satellite is that it is not very loud at all. Even with all of the settings adjusted to their maximum, the Satellite is hardly audible over other noises. This makes it difficult for people to gather around and listen to music or watch a movie on the laptop when there are other things going on, even the whirring and buzzing of a fan or floor heater will drown out the sound on this laptop. The Toshiba Satellite is equipped with the popular ConfigFree launcher program, where users can create their own profiles and control many aspects of their wireless experience. The Toshiba Satellite is equipped with a built in wireless card, so it receives a good wireless signal.
